The use of Dessilogaine also helps mitigate the risks of accidents associated with daily, prolonged manual handling (often involving shovels and buckets), such as back pain, or, even more seriously, fatal accidents caused by inhalation of toxic gas: hydrogen sulfide.

How Dessilogaine Works
Once the Dessilogaine is positioned at the start of the sausage, which takes only a few moments, it operates automatically until the end of the process.
All the farmer has to do is engage the forward control lever, and the Dessilogaine does the work for you.
The implement is powered by the tractor's hydraulic system via two hoses.
Its roof protects the cut end from the elements; the tube remains tightly sealed. A knife automatically cuts the sheath as the process moves forward.
The plastic is rolled up, and the storage area remains clean, with no grain spillage.

The Dessilogaine can be equipped with a 100-liter hydraulic power unit, allowing it to be powered by any tractor, even one with a small engine.
A disc harrow loosens the moist corn, and a screw conveyor transports the grain to a chute at a rate that can vary from 30 to 50 tons per hour, depending on the moisture content. The leading edge is not compacted, and the risk of heating—particularly in wet corn—is thus avoided as long as the feed rate is consistent and steady.
Two adjustable rollers allow the Dessilogaine to follow the coil even when it is turning. Height adjustments are provided so that the Dessilogaine can adapt to different ground levels, although a flat, stable surface (concrete or gravel platform) is ideally required for optimal performance.
